Why be Generous?
Many of you will be receiving fund raising letters from us in the mail. If we don’t have your address, you won’t. Either way, please READ ON.
Here’s where I make my pitch.
I hope you will consider a generous contribution to the DANCEworks program through our non-profit organization, SUMMERDANCE Santa Barbara. Here are 3 compelling reasons to make a contribution now:
1. You like/love dance.
2. You understand that individual contributions to dance, are increasingly important since foundations are funding less and less in the arts, and state support has largely disappeared.
3. You know that DANCEworks is dedicated to promoting the future of American dance by providing gifted choreographers with the time and space to create new work, right on stage. You also know that this is an opportunity available nowhere else in the U.S. that we are aware of.
If that’s not enough incentive, here are some quotes I really like that express the importance of DANCEworks to others :
I have had an unforgettable month here in Santa Barbara. Thank you for believing in my vision…I will never forget this experience. Choreographer Aszure Barton
DW is a one-of-a-kind gift. A rarity in the arts world, Danceworks open a door… Matt Baker, Dancer, Keigwin + Company
Composing on the historic Lobero Stage was truly a gift. Choreographer Larry Keigwin
You have given Southern California a gem of art and culture and I cannot express enough appreciation…It was an honor to be part of DANCEworks. Tina Finkelman, dancer, ASzURe & Artists 2009.
These dancers and choreographers and others to come are dependent on our generosity.
Your gift is fully tax deductible. It will go towards supporting a month long residency of Doug Elkins and Company, February 22-March 18, that will include two evenings of Lobero performances, 3 master classes, open rehearsals, and a community project…(an SB verion of So You Think You Can Dance?)
